Elk Hut Adventure

In October 2025, I organized a two-day experience to Elk Hut, gathering a group of four mountain enthusiasts for an unforgettable journey. The hike began at the Elk Pass Trailhead, located at the Elk Pass Parking Lot in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, Alberta. It’s a scenic and rewarding trail that offers a blend of forest serenity, alpine views, and a touch of backcountry adventure.

The hike is considered easy, covering approximately 11 km with only 300 meters of elevation gain. It takes about 4 hours to reach the cabin. The trail starts with a gentle incline through lush forest, winding along wide, well-marked paths. The early section is peaceful and shaded, accompanied by the rustle of wildlife and the steady rhythm of your breath.

As you descend into British Columbia, the scenery transforms. Open meadows, dense forest patches, and occasional stream crossings lead you deeper into Elk Lakes Provincial Park. The final stretch is especially stunning, with glimpses of dramatic alpine peaks. We were lucky to have beautiful weather and were amazed by the breathtaking views. We even spotted some wildlife, including a moose!

Our destination, Elk Lakes Cabin—a cozy Alpine Club of Canada hut—is surrounded by towering peaks and lies just a short walk from both Lower and Upper Elk Lakes. We arrived at the cabin about two hours before sunset. After a short rest, we returned to Lower Elk Lake to take in the sunset's beauty.

Later that evening, we prepared dinner, played some games, and enjoyed each other's company in the warmth of the cabin. The next morning, three of us revisited the lake, soaking in the peaceful morning light. I captured a beautiful image during that time, which later became part of my immersive exhibition displayed at the Marriott Downtown Hotel!

After breakfast, we began our hike back to the parking lot. The weather remained perfect, and we felt incredibly grateful to experience such a magnificent landscape.
